Thanks to all the people that participated in our successful first meeting
on May 18th!
The purpose of these first meetings is to plan and organize our efforts to recruit the 100
charter members required to obtain our dispensation and become an official Elks Lodge.
Come join us and be part of something great!

Why Have An Elks Lodge in Moncks Corner?
Youth - The Elks are building a better future for our youth. The Elks develop after school
programs throughout the United States of America. Our community's young people are partners in the Elks community
service programs.
Scholarships - The Elks National Foundation invests in our country's future by awarding
college scholarships through the Most Valuable Student scholarship, Legacy Awards for children and grandchildren of
Elks, and Emergency Educational Grants for children of deceased or totally disabled Elks. In addition, Elks at the
local, district, and state level also award scholarships.
Drug Awareness - The Elks Drug Awareness Program promotes cooperative approaches to
preventing youth from using illicit substances. Through literature, multi-media tools, workshops and training
seminars, the program educates students, parents, schools and volunteers about the dangers of drug use.
Veterans - The Elks have pledged not to forget our nation's veterans. Each year they visit
hundreds of thousands of veterans at VA Medical Centers, Outpatient Clinics and State Veterans Homes and
facilities, providing companionship and enhancing the veterans' level of comfort. They invite patients who can
leave the facilities to events at Elks Lodges, take them on fishing trips, and arrange for them to attend concerts
and sporting events.
These are just a few examples of how the Elks impact communities around the Nation, and how a local Elks
Lodge would be able to
serve the community of Moncks Corner.
